Maria-Angeles Llamas

Marian is the owner and founder of Pilates Studio 1 and brings to her teaching a lifelong dedication to movement, discipline, and wellness.

Born in Madrid, Spain in 1975, Marian began ballet training at the age of 7—a path that led her to an international career as a professional ballerina. In 1995, she joined the prestigious Joffrey Ballet in New York City, and from 2000 to 2007, danced with Ballet Florida in West Palm Beach.

It was during her ballet career that Marian was introduced to the Pilates Method. In 2000, she began practicing Pilates as part of her dance conditioning and immediately recognized its ability to strengthen, realign, and lengthen the body. Seeing its impact not only on her technique but also on her overall well-being, Marian felt called to share the method with others

She began her formal Pilates training with Michele Larsson of Core Dynamics and received her comprehensive certification in 2005 after two years of intensive study. Marian then deepened her education by completing a two-year Master Mentor Program with Pilates Elder Lolita San Miguel. As a result, she holds the distinction of being a Second Generation Pilates Teacher, trained under a direct student of Joseph Pilates, and a Pilates Master Educator, mentoring and training the next generation of instructors. She is also a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT).

Marian is committed to lifelong learning and has pursued extensive continuing education. Her areas of expertise include osteoporosis, scoliosis, stenosis, posture restoration, injury prevention, and Pilates for ballet dancers. She also specializes in safe movement for aging populations and Pilates wellness. In 2023, she completed a certification in Posture Restoration Re-Balancing Technique, a method that helps clients relieve chronic pain and move with greater ease and balance.

Her personal mission—and the mission of Pilates Studio 1—is to contribute to the well-being of others through the intelligent and empowering practice of Pilates. Marian is inspired daily by the transformation she sees in her clients: increased strength, better posture, deeper awareness, and more confidence in movement. As Joseph Pilates said, “Health is the first requisite of happiness,” and Marian takes joy in sharing that path to health with each person she teaches.

Today, Marian lives in Palm Beach County with her husband and their two daughters, continuing to share her knowledge, passion, and experience with the vibrant Pilates Studio 1 community.
